The Tigers basketball team have been playing some pretty stiff competition to prepare for the equally tough competition in district play. The top three teams in the district is expected to be Lake Travis, Westlake and Hays Johnson. Dripping Springs is expected to battle hard for that fourth spot in the playoffs which means they must win all the games they are supposed to and sneak up on some they should not. At the present the Tigers are 7-8 and 1-1 in district. They have defeated Bowie 44-36 and lost to Hays Johnson 61-52.

The two basketball programs have quietly gone about the business of playing pre-district opponents in preparation for the coming district play. For the first month of play the teams have been overshadowed by the success of the football team and the fact the basketball teams rarely play home games until district. With nine teams in the district, the schedule begins in early December and runs into February. As the district schedule begins there will be a home game (either girls or boys) every game night, mostly Tuesdays and Fridays.

When a team gets to the quarterfinal game in the playoffs, it knows the opponent will certainly be an equal.

Depth is always a positive when a team gets into the playoffs. Dripping Springs showed the importance of this quality as they broke loose in the second half to push away from San Antonio John Jay and come away with a strong 50-27 victory. This accomplishment moved the Tigers to the quarterfinals round, the same as last year. This time the opponent will be Cibolo-Steele, another worthy adversary. The game will again be played in the Alamodome, Saturday December 2. Kickoff at 7:00pm.

The Dripping Springs Junior Varsity boys golf team has completed their Fall schedule. Here are the results of the five tournaments.

As the season progresses, there are always new lessons to be learned. One thing the Tigers learned in their game with the Judson Rockets was a losing record does not mean a loser of a team. Judson, 4-7, gave the Tigers all they could handle until a touchdown with 58 seconds remaining would bring Dripping Springs all the way back from a 17-point deficit in the second half to a 38-34 victory to advance to the regionals. It had been 60 years since last the Tigers played the Rockets and did not have a win in the two games. That means Dripping Springs will be paired with San Antonio John Jay (10-2) and the Tigers (10-2) will be practicing on Thanksgiving, a plateau every team strives to achieve. The game will be played at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Saturday with kickoff time being 11 a.m.

The Dripping Springs High School football team began its playoff run successfully as they hosted a former district foe in the form of Vista Ridge High School.

The trick for the golf program is to play about half your season in the fall when the Texas weather is still warm enough to enjoy the game.

After completing their regular schedule, the Dripping Springs High School Lady Tiger volleyball team is deep into defending its state title.

In the final regular season game for the Dripping Springs High School Tigers, they continued their scoring and defensive ways to knock off the Anderson Trojans 52-17.

It did not take long for the Dripping Springs High School swim team to get into competition and go at it full speed ahead.
