Dripping Springs and the surrounding Hill Country were hit with a layer of ice last week, shutting down roads and businesses alike.

With the regional animal shelter at capacity, the Hays County Commissioners Court proclaimed this February as Spay-Neuter Awareness Month.

Efforts continue to be made towards diversity and inclusion in Dripping Springs and surrounding Hays County. Most recently, the Hays County Commissioners Court declared February 2022 as Black History Month in Hays County.

The long-awaited day has arrived. At 9 a.m. on February 3, the UIL unveiled the fate of all the members in Texas for the next two school years. All the speculation of what district you would be in became known. All the coaches in Texas found out as the district alignments were listed on the website. At that time coaches could start working on their schedules or start thinking about moving. The UIL selections can determine just how successful a school will likely be. Still, schedules cannot be chiseled in stone until the period for taking care of protests has finished.

Dripping Springs hosted its annual wedding showcase this past weekend allowing wedding parties of all shapes and sizes to discover the Wedding Capital of Texas®.

The Dripping Springs High School CX Debate team captured the District 26-5A title for the second consecutive year.

Voters who go to the polls for municipal and school board elections on May 7 will also be asked to decide on two proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution.

Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, is pleased to announce that Susan Kimball, IOM, President/CEO, of the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce, has graduated from the program and has received the recognition of IOM. Awarded to all graduates of the Institute program, the IOM Graduate Recognition signifies the individual’s completion of 96 credit hours of course instruction in non-profit management. In addition, participants can earn credit hours towards the Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) or Certified Association Executive (CAE), certifications. Nearly 1,000 individuals attend Institute annually.

The Dripping Springs Independent School District received its 2020–2021 Texas Academic Performance Report from the Texas Education Agency, providing information on school and district staff, programs and student demographics.

Howard Koontz, planning director for the city of Dripping Springs, gave a presentation on the “State of the City” to local business owners last week.

As Hays County’s Dripping Springs Southwes Connection Study continues, residents from the area have organized to fight the county’s transportation efforts, creating the group Fight. FM150.
