The Dripping Springs High School choir and orchestra have each represented themselves well at recent regional competitions, earning numerous honors. In total, 16 DSHS students advanced and will perform at the Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest on May 27 in Austin.

A Dripping Springs resident claimed a top prize winning ticket worth $1 million in the Texas Lottery scratch ticket game $1,000,000 Crossword. The ticket was purchased at H-E-B Food Store #611, located at 598 E. Highway 290, in Dripping Springs. The claimant elected to remain anonymous.

An 11-year-old Goodnight Middle School student died last week after being hit by a vehicle in the drop off lane of the school parking lot, according to the San Marcos Police Department.

The Hays County Commissioners Court met in regular session to approve the creation of a no dumping zone in the area adjacent to Old Bastrop Highway and to authorize funding in response to an emergency need following the recent winter storm.

Five candidates are running for two positions on the Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees in the May 6 election.

Abbott delivers

In a special meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 15, the Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to call for a $223.7 million bond referendum for the May 6 election later this year.

The Hays County Local Health Department invites the public to attend a community visioning session at the San Marcos Public Library on March 1, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Dripping Springs High School qualified a schoolrecord 47 students for the state DECA competition after a successful district contest on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock.

Hays County Criminal District Attorney Kelly Higgins announced yesterday that a Hays County grand jury concluded its review of the November 2022 shooting incident involving Hays County Deputy Mohmmad Zaqzouq. The grand jury did not return an indictment in the matter.
