Dripping Springs Century News General Manager Dalton Sweat has been promoted to Publisher of San Marcos Publishing, LP. The publishing company owns the Dripping Springs Century News, Wimberley View and San Marcos Daily Record.
”I’m happy to see this transition take place,” Lance Winter, outgoing publisher, said. “Dalton has been a familiar face in Hays County over the years and has a passion for delivering a great news product for both readers and advertisers.”
Winter leaves a 40-year career in the newspaper industry to pursue other interests but will remain in Hays County.
In his new role, Sweat will take over the day-today duties in the San Marcos office, located at 1910 South I-35. In addition to overseeing the operations of all three newspapers, San Marcos Publishing is also the printer for more than a dozen weekly newspapers throughout the state of Texas.
“I have loved having the opportunity of covering the Dripping Springs community for the last eight years,' Sweat said. 'While I won't be as involved in the day to day coverage any more, one of the best things about this opportunity is that I will still get to have oversight over the paper I've come love over the last decade. I'm also confident the paper is in good hands with Madi Telschow as editor.'
Sweat will take over the role of Publisher from Winter on November 8. Winter will be starting in a new position with the Greater San Marcos Partnership after spending the last five years at the helm of the company.
Sweat has been an employee of San Marcos Publishing, LP since March of 2013. He has been in charge of the Century News since March of 2014, when the company purchased the Wimberley View and Dripping Springs Century News from Jack Mynier.
