Fall show to feature local, regional art

The Dripping Springs Art Tour will host a fall art show this weekend at three local art venues featuring paintings, sculpture and other art forms from some of the area's most highly recognized artists and artisans.

The Dripping Springs Art Tour will host a fall art show this weekend at three local art venues featuring paintings, sculpture and other art forms from some of the area's most highly recognized artists and artisans.

The tour will run at different locations throughout Dripping Springs on Oct. 22–23. In addition to works of numerous talented artists of the Dripping Springs area, this fall’s tour will feature works of internationally recognized sculptor Matt Donner of Cedar Park, president of the Texas Society of Sculptors.

The Dripping Springs Art Tour was established by the Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau.

“This is a special opportunity for those who live and around Dripping Springs to see some of the work of our highly talented art community,” said Pam Owens, president and CEO of the Visitors Bureau. “The tour has been highly accepted by our visitors and people who live in the community.”

The three local art venues of the show include: Carved Stone, home of the Dripping Springs Sculpture Garden — An outdoor venue located at 5300 Bell Springs Road, it features the work of Phil and Michele Hoggatt and more than twelve other sculptors. Carved Stone will host the special showing of the work of Matt Donner and other members of the Texas Society of Sculptors.

STUDIO:13 Gallery and Garden, the workshop and studio of artist and sculptor Doyle Fellers — The studio is located just south off of US Highway 290 on Roger Hanks Parkway. STUDIO: 13 will include photographic art by DorRae Stevens, sculptures by Phil Hoggatt and Wayne Rossi and paintings by Cammy Jones, Hamilton Jones and other artists.

Mercer Street Art, a leading gallery in the downtown Dripping Springs historic district — The gallery is located at 330 Mercer St. Under the direction of owner Deb Vincent, the gallery remains filled with exceptional paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry and crafts of many artists and artisans of the area.

Doyle Fellers, who initiated the art tour concept, previously served on the board of the Visitors Bureau’s Destination Dripping Springs.

“There are many great artists in and around Dripping Springs that create sculpture, paintings, jewelry, pottery, glassworks and other crafts, but few have venues to display their work,” Fellers said. ”Our goal is to raise the level of exposure of our local talented artisans and extend the reach of the cultural arts for the benefit of all who live in Central Texas.”

The three venues of the two-day show will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for visitors to stroll through at their leisure. Admission and parking are free.
