The Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival will return for its eighth year this fall.

Destination Dripping Springs, the marketing arm of the nonprofit Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau, will host the event on Oct. 14–16 in historic downtown Dripping Springs. The town itself is the venue, and eight participating locations are the stages for 70+ songwriter showcases. Fifty songwriters from across the nation and around the world will perform “in the round,” Nashville-style for attendees to enjoy free of charge.

Stages will be found at Hudson’s on Mercer, Mazama’s Coffee Co, Acopon Brewing, The Barber Shop, the Warehouse Courtyard, Sidecar Tasting Room, Dog ‘N’ Bone and Haus of Jayne. The majority of the stages are outdoor and open-air, and all are within safe, easy walking distance of each other in the historic district of downtown Dripping Springs. Parking is plentiful, and drinks and food trucks will be available at or near all participating venues.

Golf carts will also be available, as necessary, for rides to and from stages on Old Fitzhugh Road and Mercer Street.

“This festival just gets better year after year,” said Pam Owens, president and CEO of the Visitors Bureau. “Our talented 2022 line-up is not to be missed.”

Performances run continuously on Friday and Saturday from afternoon to evening, and on Sunday, the festivities include a spirited Gospel Brunch Showcase at Hudson’s on Mercer Street, followed by the popular Festival Wrap-Party in front of the HEB Welcome Tent.

“It’s amazing that you get to hear this much great music performed by writers who are serious about their craft and their stories,” Owens said. “And the bonus is that it’s all free because of our fabulous sponsors. The ticketed Saturday night Headliners Showcase was sold out 10 days before showtime!”

This year's headliner concert showcase on Saturday night at Mercer Dancehall will feature Aaron Barker, Leslie Satcher and David Lee. All three of these artists had #1 hits sung by some of the biggest names in the music industry and have earned numerous awards among them. The show will be opened by two Rising Star Songwriters, Cari Ray and Shawn Byrne.

For the first time this year, the festival will also include a songwriting series, featuring three Rising Star Songwriters sharing their writing process and a song or two. This set will take place at Homespun Kitchen and Bar from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
