Dripping Springs Tigers clip Eagles' wings

As expected, Austin’s Akins High School would not be able to put up any resistance on either side of the ball. Also as expected, the Dripping Springs High School starters would not see much action either.

As expected, Austin’s Akins High School would not be able to put up any resistance on either side of the ball. Also as expected, the Dripping Springs High School starters would not see much action either.

By the end of the first quarter, the DSHS Tigers led with a score of 34-0. The DSHS coaches had already pulled up a group of junior varsity players to fill in, getting them some valuable playing time and preventing any unnecessary injuries to starters before their coming game with Westlake. Akins managed to get their lone score late in the game when they threw a perfectly thrown ball over a well-defenced receiver, avoiding a shutout in the 67-6 runaway game.

Friday night's game with the Westlake Chaparrals will be the first match between the two schools since 1969 when the Chaps defeated the Tigers 14-6 in their inaugural season. This game will break the tie for the district championship and will likely entertain the largest crowd to ever view a Tiger game at home. Kickoff will be at 7:30 pm.
