Cross country teams prepare for state

“Always looking ahead and planning for the future,” could be the motto for the Dripping Springs High School cross country teams.

“Always looking ahead and planning for the future,” could be the motto for the Dripping Springs High School cross country teams.

Their showing at the Round Rock McNeil Elite Invitational was indicative of exactly that. The meet was held at the Old Settlers Park, which just so happens to be the site for the state meet in a few weeks. Competitors had to be invited, and to do that, they had to meet certain times during their competition.

The invitational had two divisions in each category: the Gold and Silver divisions. Dripping Springs competed in the Silver division.

The Lady Tigers were able to qualify a team and took the opportunity to win the Silver title with 89 points. The top five teams were DSHS, Canyon High School with 99 points, James Bowie High School with 137, Katy High School with 153 and Brandeis High School with 182.

Only two Tigers from the boys team earned an invitation, which was not enough to have team status. Ramsey Zogaib placed 38th with a time of 16.22.20 and Austin Wolfe took 62nd with a time of 16.38.00.

DSHS results: 9. Madison Johnson 19.03.20; 11. Chandler Latham 10.07.30; 15. Sofia Vences 19.18.10; 38. Mia Simons 19.58.90; 41. Alexa Velasco 20.00.90; 43. Rylea Bernhard 20.04.40; 56. Laurel Hoskovec 20.15.50.
