Drippin' Inn officially opens on Mercer Street

Drippin’ Inn celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting last week, sponsored by the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce.

The celebration took place onsite on Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. Open to the public, the event also featured refreshments, beer and wine, setting the inn's reputation for hospitality early on.

Drippin’ Inn was established earlier this summer by Gwyn and Marvin Sommerfeld. The pair transformed the existing building into a charming bed and breakfast with two comfortable, queen-sized beds and a full private bathroom with a shower and bathtub. Combining antiques with modern furnishings, the inn also boasts amenities such as a Roku TV and a coffee bar.

Drippin’ Inn is located at 304 Mercer St. in the Historic District, the heart of Dripping Springs. The building itself was built in 1940 and operated as a cafĂ© for many years. Its role has changed many times over the years, including being a residence, a storage building and an office. Most recently, the building operated as Drippin’ Pickin’s Antique Store, also run by Gwyn. The store opened in 2019, closing after three years in business. For more information on Drippin’ Inn, follow the inn on Facebook or view its page on Airbnb at airbnb.com/h/drippininn- dstx.
