Homecoming is officially over for Dripping Springs High School, but this year was not without its fanfare.

The celebration of both current and former Dripping Springs Tigers included a number of different events, themes and activities throughout the week of Monday, Sept. 12, wrapping up with the homecoming football game against Austin High School on Friday, Sept. 16.

As is tradition, each day featured a different theme: Monday’s theme was “There’s No Place Like Home,” encouraging students to wear their pajamas to school.

Tuesday’s theme was “Home Improvement,” which meant anything neon.

Wednesday’s theme was “Home Run,” featuring jerseys and other sports team apparel.

Thursday’s theme was “Home Base,” — all camouflage.

Friday’s theme was “Maroon Out,” with ninth through 11th graders in maroon and seniors in white.

A Homecoming parade was held around DSHS at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, followed by a community pep rally at 6:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium with the DSHS Dazzlers, the DSHS Hi-Steppers, the DSHS cheerleaders and the DSHS football team, among others. The second annual DSHS Homecoming Carnival, beginning at 7 p.m.outside of Tiger Stadium, concluded the night’s festivities with games put on by DSHS clubs and food from local food trucks.

The festivities concluded with the football game on Friday; mums and garters were in full attendance and spirits were high as the Tiger football team took on Austin High. The homecoming court, which had been named the week prior, was brought out at halftime to name the Homecoming King and Queen, Carter Larsen and Jesse Bookbinder. And then, in true celebratory fashion, the Tigers shut out the Austin team, ending the game 77 to 0.
