Dripping Springs Century News names new editor

Madi Telschow, previously a staff reporter for the Dripping Springs Century News, has been named the paper’s newest editor.

Madi Telschow, previously a staff reporter for the Dripping Springs Century News, has been named the paper’s newest editor.

“When Madi was hired on as a staff reporter, I told her that the job of editor would be available, but she would have to earn it,” said Dalton Sweat, general manager and interim editor for The Century News. “She’s spent the last year doing exactly that. She has proven to be a strong journalist who is passionate about the community she covers and is an employee who is consistently willing to step up anywhere she is needed. We are proud to promote her into this new role as we watch her journalism career continue to grow.”

Telschow joined The Century News in the summer of 2021. She came to Dripping Springs from Texas A&M University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with minors in communication and journalism. While completing her degree, she also worked as an editorial assistant for Insite Brazos Valley Magazine.

“Working as a local, community journalist has been and continues to be one of my greatest honors,” Telschow said. “Getting to know and becoming involved in Dripping Springs has been incredibly enjoyable, and I am excited to continue to do so in my new role with The Century News. I have long been passionate about helping to engage and inform those around me, and I am excited to see how my position as editor enables me to do so even more.”

Sweat will continue his role with the newspaper as general manager while ceding editorial duties to Telschow.
