A third season of outdoor movies are set to take place in the parking lot of the Wimberley Playhouse.
This year’s summer screenings will include Disney-Pixar’s animated adventure Up, rated PG, on June 4; the Baz Luhrmann musical Moulin Rouge, rated PG-13, on June 17; and the classic favorite The Princess Bride, rated PG, on June 18. Each movie will begin at 8:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs.
The transformation of the Wimberley Playhouse parking lot into a walk-in movie theater became a tradition in 2020.
“Something magical happens when the sun begins to set,” said Trish Rigdon, managing artistic director of The Wimberley Players. “The always-present evening breezes cool things down for a great night under the Texas sky. This season we chose two films to appeal to families with younger children, and one that would make a great date night for adults. With our outdoor concession stand stocked with all the typical movie snacks, plus beer and wine, folks of all ages will have a great time!”
Tickets required for entry: adults $10, children 12 and under $5. Tickets are available at wimberleyplayers.org or by calling (512) 847-0575
The Wimberley Players is located at 450 Old Kyle Road in Wimberley, five blocks east of the Wimberley Square.
