Dripping Springs High School senior golfer Tanner Wardlaw has qualified for the UIL State Tournament.
Wardlaw qualified after tying for third place at the Region IV-5A Tournament on Tuesday, April 19, at The Golf Club of Texas in San Antonio. Wardlaw climbed the leaderboard on the second and final day of the competition by recording the lowest score of the regional tournament among the 95 competitors with a three-underpar 69 to move up from 20th place. He finished with a three-over-par score of 147, just two strokes from first place.
Wardlaw will be one of three individual state qualifiers from Region 4, joining Gregory-Portland’s Hayden Hardwick and Medina Valley’s Levi Keith. He will be making his second appearance at the state tournament after Dripping Springs qualified as a team in 2019.
The UIL 5A State Tournament will be held May 9–10 at the White Wing Golf Club in Georgetown.
