The Dripping Springs softball team has successfully negotiated the season and district play to win District 26-6A and looks forward to extending their season deep into the playoffs. They have carved out a season record of 237-1 and 11-1 in district play. Next on the list is Round Rock Stony Point, the District 256A runnerup in Div 2. The first game will be tonight at DS beginning at 7 p.m. Friday night they will travel to Stony Point for a 7 p.m. game. If a third game is necessary it will be played Saturday. Site and time to be determined.
In the final week of the regular season, the Lady Tigers got in a practice game with Georgetown before finishing up district with Westlake. Georgetown was able to get more firepower that produced runs to outlast the Lady Tigers 10-4. Westlake, having a poor season, succumbed to DS 12-2 in a run-rule five-inning game.
Vs G-town: The Lady Eagles are a strong 5A team and their strength showed. Sadie Bradford opened the scoring in the third with a 3-run homerun. In their half, Georgetown tied the game. Tatum Green had a rbi double in the fourth but once again G-town would go one up. The Lady Tigers could not cross the plate again while G-town would add five more. The Lady Tigers would be outhit 11-5. Getting the other hits for DS were Lauren Byrnes, Addy Knapp and Jai-Lynn Flores.
The DS pitchers had difficulty holding the G-town batters at bay. Green started the game and took the loss as she lasted 3.1 innings, giving up 6H, 5R, 3ER, 1W, 0K. Bradford relieved 2.1, 5H, 5R, 5ER, 2W, 2K. Knapp got the only batter she faced out.
Vs Westlake: DS had active bats as they collected 13 hits, including four extra-bases. The result was ten runs in the first three innings. Getting those hits were Bradford 3, Lorelei Gamble 2HRs, Morgan Riley, Byrnes 2B, Taylor Crain, Kira Preslar 2B, Lillian Wearden, Emma Phillips, Green and Flores. Bradford pitched the complete game, allowing 3H, 2R, 2ER, 4W, 5K.
Final District Standings: Dripping Springs 11-1, Lake Travis 10-2, Bowie 8-4, Del Valle 7-5, Westlake 3-9, Akins 2-10, Austin High 0-12.
