Dripping Springs softball is at the top of the heap and trying to remain there as they finish the final four games in district play. Their last two games were a 3-2 win over Boerne Champion and an easy 11-0 whitewash of Alamo Heights.
Just when it looked like the Lady Tigers were getting to enjoy leading the district, Boerne Champion was there to remind they could not take any games off and bring them back to earth. Recently, the teams have come prepared to get their act together in the first inning and do most of their scoring. This game no different. Each team put a two-spot in their half of the inning. The Lady Tigers would have the winning run cross the plate in the third inning and that would be it.
The Lady Tigers would garner 8 hits with Erika Kanetzky getting three, Taylor Anderson 2, along with Kate Tressler's two. Jordan Cox added a double. Haiden Anderson took the mound and pitched the complete game. She gave up five hits, two runs and struck out seven.
A well-pitched five inning game by Cox did not give AH much of a chance to score as she allowed one hit, gave up a walk and struck out eight. Meanwhile the Lady Mules kicked the ball around for five errors. It would not have mattered as DS pounded out 10 hits. The big blast was a 2-run shot over rightfield fence in the 6-run third by Haley Kanetzky. Sister Erika added a triple and Haiden Anderson a double. The other hits came from T. Anderson 2, Linan Scott 2, H. Kanetzky, E. Kanetzky, Kristen Zeman.
