The Dripping Springs softball team keeps winning their games in a whateverit- takes mode. Last week right on cue they went for the long ball to blast an 11-1 victory over winless Austin High and then squeezed out a 2-1 win over Bowie. That leaves the Lady Tigers tied with Lake Travis at one loss each. This past Tuesday, the Lady Tigers made the trip over to LT to settle the issue. DS will take a 19-6-1 record into the battle. The first game was 2-1. Nevertheless, they will not have to face each other in the playoffs.
Dripping Springs found the Austin High pitching good batting practice. Of their ten hits, four would be homeruns and a double. Austin finally scratched out their run in the bottom of the seventh. Lorelei Gamble had the biggest night with three homeruns and 8 rbis. Sadie Bradford added a homerun and double. Others adding to the hit total were Emma Phillips 2, Tatum Green 2 and Lauren Byrnes.
The pitching game has been strong with complete games being common. Bradford tossed the six innings, giving up 6H, 1R, walking 5 and striking out three.
Bowie was responsible for the Lady Tigers lone loss, so it was important. The last game was a 10-6 decision. Gamble staked DS to a 1-0 lead in the third with a homerun. Bowie would tie it in the fourth. In the sixth, Green would give herself the win when her second hit drove in McKenna Riley. Phillips had the other hit. Green took the mound for seven, giving up five hits and walked one.
