Ascension Seton added to list of World’s Best Hospitals

Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin and Ascension Seton Hays have been named to Newsweek and Statista’s annual list of the World’s Best Hospitals. The list, which is part of a series that began in March 2019 recognizing hospitals worldwide for their expertise and performance across nearly a dozen medical fields, includes data organized by nation on more than 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries. Additionally, World’s Best Hospitals 2025 features a Global Top 250 list, highlighting the top hospitals worldwide based on peer recommendations, quality indicators and a new bibliometric score.

“We are truly honored to be recognized on the 2025 list of the World’s Best Hospitals, which is a testament to the dedication of our caregivers who consistently provide quality, compassionate care for all,” said Andy Davis, president and CEO of Ascension Texas. “We’re proud to be recognized for the care our mission-driven associates provide to our community every day.”

Each hospital’s score is based on an online survey of more than 85,000 medical experts and public data from post-hospitalization patient surveys on their general satisfaction. The score also considers metrics on things like hygiene and patient/doctor ratio as well as a Statista survey on whether hospitals use Patient Reported Outcome Measures, which are standardized questionnaires completed by patients to assess their experience and results.

“These rankings showcase the hospitals that are setting the standard for medical excellence, innovation and patient- centered care on a global scale,” said Alexis Kayser, health care editor at Newsweek. “By incorporating new quality metrics and patient-reported outcomes, this year’s list provides an even more comprehensive view of the institutions leading the way in health care. We’re proud to highlight the hospitals making a tangible impact on patient well-being and advancing the future of medicine.”

Statista developed a rigorous methodology to ensure the quality and validity of the ranking. A global board of medical experts certifies the continuous development and scope of the project. Four data sources were used for the evaluation: • Hospital Recommendations from Peers: Online survey among tens of thousands of doctors, healthcare professionals and hospital managers in 30 countries

• Patient Experience: Survey of patient satisfaction with hospitalization • Hospital Quality Metrics: Medical indicators (e.g., data on quality of care for treatments, hygiene measures, patient safety and waiting times)

• Implementation of PROMs: Statista online survey on implementation and use of PROMs in hospitals (optional) The World’s Best Hospitals 2025 list recognizes the best medical institutions across 30 countries: The United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil, Canada, India, Australia, Mexico, The Netherlands, Austria, Thailand, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Israel, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Chile and Malaysia.
