Spring is just around the corner, and next week the Hays County Master Gardeners Association (HCMGA) will begin its annual Spring Plant & Tree Sale. The event will feature a wide variety of spring and summer vegetables, herbs, shrubs, and trees - many propagated from the Master Gardeners' own plantings and seeds.
Customers can shop either online or in person. The in-person sale will be held in Buda on Sunday, Mar. 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be two locations, Buda Downtown Gazebo and Greenbelt at 319 Main Street and the Budaful Farmers Market located at 204 San Antonio Street.
The online sale opens on Sunday, Mar. 16 and goes through Mar. 22 at at haysgardener.square. site. Online shoppers will pick up their purchases at the in-person event at the Buda Gazebo and Greenbelt.
Experts at HCMGA said that there are several benefits to buying from the organization. First, they are locally grown, climate appropriate plants specially propagated for the unique environment of Hays County, ensuring greater success in the garden.
Second, it supports a worthy cause. Proceeds from the sale fund Master Gardener continuing education programs and community training classes.
There will be some exclusive in-person offerings at the Buda locations, featuring plants not available in the online sale.
The Hays County Master Gardeners give back to the community by logging over 6,000 hours of volunteer service annually. Their efforts include answering public horticulture questions, teaching in schools, libraries, and shelters, and maintaining or renovating public and community gardens.
