Soccer season winds down for DSHS

One game remains for the boys and girls soccer teams. That game, with Westlake, has everything to do with making the playoffs. A win for girls keeps them in third place while the boys need a win to clinch fourth.

This year the playoff format has changed. Whether a team is in Div 1 or Div 2 is determined solely by the school's enrollment. That means Dripping Springs will be in Div 2 regardless of the standings. Bi-District will be a game with District 25-6A.

Girls soccer: Due to injury and illness, the Lady Tigers have had to work from behind the 8-ball. In the last weeks they have worked their way back to a third place tie with Bowie 6-4-1. Their last game was with Del Valle and they overran the Cardinals 7-0. Adley Accetta led the scoring with three goals, called a hat trick. Getting two each were Bailey Stephenson and Carson Thompson. Nailing down assists were Stephenson 2, Shea Sisson, Josie Hardin, Daisy Kaner, Evan Witherspoon and Lily Ruff.

JVA: won 3-0. Goals: Chloe Sprockett 2; Peyton Ramirez; Assists: Rylan Dennison, Brooke Greenville.

JVB: won 5-0. Goals: Clara Ellis 3, McKenna Nauert, Kinley Clark.

Boys soccer: The Tigers lost their last two games, dropping them from second into fourth place. They now have a 5-4-2 record with Westlake trailing 4-4-3. The Tigers first loss was to Lake Travis 1-2 and then 0-2 to Del Valle. Trent Trotter scored the lone goal with an assist by Parker Johnson.
