Beginning with the March billing period, Dripping Springs residents will see a change in the way their water and wastewater charges are handled.
For the bill due in April, wastewater related charges will be handled by the City of Dripping Springs. They will no longer be billed jointly with the water bill from the Dripping Springs Water Supply Corporation (DSWSC), as they have been since 2019.
The city has chosen to bring its utility billing in-house due to its continued growth, specifically with the utilities it provides.
No action is required for the bill due March 15. The DSWSC bill will still include the wastewater charges, and customers will remit payment as normal to DSWSC.
Customers should receive their first wastewater bill from the City in March. After receiving the first printed bill, customers will be able to access their account through the City of Dripping Springs utility customer portal. This will allow people to set up auto payments and review other account details.
However, this service will be available only after the first bill is issued. Due to the transition, it is possible that the first bill could be delayed. If that happens, the first bill would include March and April bills. The city will communicate this with customers if that occurs.
Customers will receive a new account number, and are encouraged to update any saved payment information accordingly. Late fees and penalties will follow city billing policies, which will be shared with all customers during the transition.
Once the transition takes place, all wastewater payments must be made directly to the city. There are multiple payment options, including online payments, mailin payments, and in-person payments. Customers who wish to take advantage of auto-pay will need to set up a new auto-pay with the city.
Previous billing history will not transfer over automatically. Customers who need records should contact DSWSC before the transition.
The city will be providing updates via mail, email, and on its website. To stay informed about these changes, customers should ensure that their contact information is up to date with the city by contacting utilities@cityofdrippingsprings. com. Questions or concerns related to this billing change can be directed to either the City of Dripping Springs Utility Department or Dripping Springs Water Supply Corporation.
