Harlem Wizards to perform at DSHS on Sunday

The world-famous Harlem Wizards will bring their dazzling basketball tricks and community entertainment to Dripping Springs High School Gym on Sunday, Feb. 23. For the event, which starts at 2 p.m., The Wizards will take on a team of local “hometown heroes” called the Dripping Springs Stars, made up of Dripping Springs ISD teachers and community leaders.

It promises to be a game full of excitement, laughter, and spectacular dunks. The event is hosted by Dripping Springs High School PTSA.

“We're excited to welcome the Wizards for the inaugural game in Dripping Springs,” says Amanda Miyamoto, President of Dripping Springs High School PTSA. “This truly is meant to be a fun, community- engagement event. Family-friendly events are hard to come by in our area so we hope this game becomes the first of many!”

With rim-rattling dunks, mesmerizing ball-handling, and jaw-dropping tricks, the Wizards deliver an awe-inspiring show. But Miyamoto said what makes it truly special is the hometown involvement. From on-court experiences for kids to cheering on beloved teachers and community leaders, everyone has a chance to be part of the fun.

Kids with a Wizards jersey can join the team for pre-game warm-ups, and audience members can volunteer in contests and hilarious acts throughout the evening. As a grand finale, all students are invited to join the Wizards on the court for an end-of-game dance celebration.

Founded in 1962, the Harlem Wizards have played over 15,000 games across the globe, raising over $25 million for schools and charitable organizations. From superstar athletes like Connie Hawkins and Nate “Tiny” Archibald to Harlem Globetrotter legend Marques Haynes, the Wizards have featured some of the biggest names in sports entertainment. Today's Wizards roster includes master showmen like Eric 'Broadway' Jones, Dwayne 'Swoop' Simpson, Lamarvin 'Showtime' Jackson, and many others who continue the team's legacy of delivering world-class entertainment and community engagement.

Tickets for students are $15 in advance or $20 at the door, and general admission is $20 in advance or $25 at the door. There are also reserved seating and courtside options. To purchase tickets and learn more, visit www.harlemwizards. com and look at the schedule for the Dripping Springs event.
