Wins have been slow to pile up in district play for Lady Tigers basketball. So far Akins has been the only team win in district. The game started slowly for both teams as baskets were hard to come by. After one DS held a slim 13-10 advantage.
After that, the Lady Tigers started clicking in all phases. They played a brand of ball rarely seen and it was refreshing. They were diving for loose balls, fighting for rebounds, running hard to head off a dribbler, driving hard to the basket and putting up good shots, getting fouled and shooting free throws. Everyone was contributing with strong efforts. They just seem to be so close.
Thirteen players made the scoring column. At the half it was 35-16. That was bumped up to 53-24 after three. Another milestone was passed during the game. On her last basket of the night, Rain Collins attained the 1000 point career mark, joining 21 other Lady Tigers that have accomplished this in the history of Dripping Springs basketball.
Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Collins 19, Ella Beatty 11, Bailey Rogers 9, Carys Lloyd 7, Caitlyn Lightfoot 6, Layne Fields 4, Harper Teague 4, Abigail Robinson 3, Katie Newman 2, Sloan Geck 2, Ainsley Coleman 2, Chloe Lightfoot 2, Veronica Johnson 2.
