Dripping Springs Independent School District hired Scott Berry as its new Chief Operating Officer following a unanimous decision by the Board of Trustees during a special meeting on Jan. 9.
Berry brings two decades of experience in public education to the position, including his most recent role as Chief Financial Officer for Johnson City ISD. In addition to his background in educational administration, Berry is a licensed civil engineer with over five years of professional experience in design, feasibility studies, and project management.
In his new role, Berry will oversee several key operations for the district, including facilities and maintenance, construction, technology, child nutrition, and transportation. He will also guide the district’s long-range planning efforts, focusing on facility needs and land acquisitions.
“We are thrilled to welcome Scott into this new role as Chief Operating Officer of Dripping Springs ISD,” Superintendent Dr. Holly Morris-Kuentz said. “Scott brings a wealth of experience in operations, leadership, and public education, and we are confident that his expertise will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our district. Scott will play a pivotal role in maintaining operational excellence as the district continues to grow and innovate, and we look forward to the positive impact he will bring to our schools and community.”
At Johnson City ISD, Berry was responsible for overseeing financial and business operations, including accounting, budgeting, payroll, purchasing, facilities and maintenance, child nutrition, and transportation. He also played a significant role in the successful passage of two bond programs. Before stepping into district administration, Berry taught math and science courses for 16 years at LBJ High School, Lake Travis High School, and Dripping Springs Middle School.
Berry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University.
He will officially begin his duties as Chief Operating Officer on Feb. 3.
