It did not take long to understand why Westlake was undefeated after the first half of district play. The Lady Chaps had it all in the game. They came out with a swarming defense that continually kept the ball out of the Lady Tigers hands and scored frequently in drives to the basket and outside as well. They were fundamentally sound in all phases. They opened with a 7-0 run before Ella Beatty managed a basket. Westlake then closed with a 20-0 run to finish the first quarter in command 27-2.
The Lady Chaps eased up a bit in the second quarter and as usual, the Lady Tigers kept giving their best and as a result was a little more successful in scoring as the half ended with DS trailing 41-12. Westlake subbed liberally during the second half and Rain Collins had a hot streak in the third to stay within sight after three 5625. The game would end at 61-34.
Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Collins 11, Beatty 8, Chloe Lightfoot 3, Bailey Rogers 3, Katie Newman 2, Layne Fields 2, Ainsley Coleman 2, Abigail Robinson 2, Caitlyn Lightfoot 1.
District standings after the first half had been played are: Westlake 6-0, Bowie 5-1, Lake Travis 4-2, Austin High 3-3, Del Valle 2-4, DS 1-5, Akins 0-6.
