The city of Dripping Springs reported a spill of approximately 83,200 gallons of untreated wastewater at the Hays Street Lift Station, located at the south end of Haydon Lane. The incident, discovered on January 3 at 7 a.m., was attributed to a pump failure in the city’s South Regional Wastewater Collection System.

The city confirmed that the spill did not impact any waters of the state and said immediate containment and remediation measures were taken. The pump has been repaired and is now operating normally.

Residents within a half-mile radius of the overflow site who use private drinking water wells were advised to boil water or use distilled water for all personal uses including drinking, cooking, bathing and brushing teeth. The city also recommended that private well users within the half mile radius have their water tested and disinfected if necessary before discontinuing these precautions.
