Dripping Springs two soccer teams showed their rankings in the state are well-deserved as they made it through the early rounds of the playoffs. They took one-sided victories that vaulted them to the regional playoffs to be played at the Cabaniss Athletic Complex in Corpus Christi on Friday and Saturday. One step from the state tourney.
The Tigers dumped Glenn (8-0) and Medina Valley (9-0) before encountering the District 25-5A champion Rouse Raiders. It was the match expected as the 40-minute game ended with each team securing a goal. The penalty kickoff to break ties was won by the Tigers and they got to move on where they will be playing Sharyland on Friday.
The undefeated Lady Tigers, ranked No. 1 all year as well as defending state champions have had no equals to date. They have overpowered Rouse 4-1 and mauled SA Edison 9-0. The shocker was the 6-0 margin against undefeated District 25- 5A champion Cedar Park. The game was expected to be much closer but it only goes to show the exceeding strength of this team and probably will not be detained from returning to state for a repeat. They will open at regional with Gregory-Portland.
