After a midweek game against Westlake, the Tigers traveled to San Antonio to play TMI. Kooper Brown carried the hammer into the game for his play in the Westlake game. Expected to be a tight game, this was a back and forth game, reminiscent of the Westwood game the week before. The Tigers led 3-2 at the end of the first quarter behind goals from Brett Williamson, Jack Tanner and a “pole goal” from Steven Roberts.

In the 2nd quarter Aiden Kane took over, keeping his scoring streak alive and scoring the next 4 goals for the Tigers. Trailing by one at the half , Drip knotted things up at 10 at the end of the 3rd quarter, with Brett Williamson adding 2 of his 4 goals and Keller Stafford adding a goal as well. TMI pulled away in the 4th quarter, taking a 2 goal lead into the final minute. The Tigers weren’t done. Brett Williamson netted his, season high, 4th goal of the day with 32 seconds remaining and Keller Stafford picked up the ground ball on the ensuing faceoff and took it the distance to score the game-tying goal. For the 2nd week in a row, extra time would be required to finish the game. Shortly into the overtime period, though, TMI found the back of the net for the game winner. The Tigers fell 16-15.

Owen Rhodes kept his streak alive of winning the faceoff battle in the last 9 games, including games against some of the top faceoff guys in the state. Rhodes won 19 of his 25 faceoff attempts and picking up 16 ground balls on the afternoon. Keller Stafford was counted on again to provide lock down defense on TMI’s top shooter. Stafford picked up 7 ground balls, as well. Gideon Schlab scooped up 5 GBs and forced a turnover.

Kane had 3 assists to go with his 4 goals. Tanner added a 2nd goal and Ryan Williamson and Brendan Linan each had a goal and an assist. Lucas Willingham took home the hammer for the game, after coming in and winning the faceoff that sent the game into overtime.

The Tigers will face off at home against Vandegrift High School this Thursday evening in a district battle. Come out and support the Tigers as they Face Off Against Cancer supporting the Primed 2 Fight Foundation. JV at 6pm and Varsity at 8:15pm. Dripping Springs and Vandegrift currently sit tied for 2nd place in district. Senior Night will be Saturday evening at 7pm vs Washington Skyline. Admission is free.
