District play has begun for the Lady Tigers basketball team. Competition is going to be pretty tough as Westlake, Lake Travis, Bowie and Austin High look to be playoff favorites. You can be sure the Lady Tigers will be scrappy and playing hard. They have been hurt by a problem they have incurred for a few years now. They fail to show the instinct to finish a shot under control. Although working hard to get a percentage shot they produce a panicked attempt that fails to produce points. Watched pregame warmups and the players were practicing shots they would take in the game and were performing them flawlessly but the same shot in the game would not find the net.

Dripping Springs opened district play with Austin Akins and found the going much easier. The final was 70-31 with the Lady Tigers taking control early on.

Next they hosted Austin High. They met a team that was proficient in the outside shot as they ripped 11 threes. The Lady Tigers incurred their scoring problems and at times were careless in ball-handling. They kept the pressure on and then would fall back finally giving way to a 71-40 loss. A 6-16 effort at the line did not help. It was 13-21 after one, 18-39 at the half and 28-59 after three.

Vs Akins: Rain Collins 15, Ella Beatty 14, Carys Lloyd 13, Ainsley Coleman 8, Abigail Robinson 8, Chaela Luelling 4, Bailey Rogers 4, Sloan Geck 2, Layne Fields 2.

Vs Austin: Collins 19, Beatty 9, Rogers 4, Lloyd 3, Coleman 2, Robinson 2, Fields 1.
