As the fall sports start to end, the winter sports get ready to take over. Basketball is one of those sports that gets to play indoors. The Lady Tigers are still playing hard and making improvements but still falling short in the points division with close losses. Got to watch them play Kerrville Tivy, always a good program. The Lady Tigers were able to hang in during the first half before Tivy managed to start getting good looks at the basket and making them. Meanwhile the Lady Tigers were not bashful about putting up open shots but just could not get them to drop. They were making their free throws, just not getting fouled enough. Basketball is one of those sports where the athletes have to be proficient in all skills to be good at the sport rather than have a skill that can be substituted in when it is time to use that skill. That means many hours have to be spent perfecting them to be really good.
In the first quarter the Lady Tigers finally tied the score at 12-12 with 50 seconds left before trailing 12-14 after one. At the half it was 21-26. Tivy started pulling away in the second half, leading 26-43 after three with the final being 33-59. Prior to this game the Lady Tigers lost to RR Westwood in double OT. They lost to NB Canyon 5444, Round Rock 63-19, Taylor 5147, Anderson 4641 before defeating Pflugerville Connally 69-36.
DS vs Tivy scoring: Ella Beatty 15, Abigail Robinson 6, Bailey Rogers 6, Rain Collins 4, Johnson 2.
The Tigers opened with a 5754 win over San Marcos, then met a super hot Rouse team and fell 6743.
