Lady Tigers stunned: Playoff loss ends season

It was a most unexpected occurrence for the Dripping Springs Lady Tigers volleyball team. Ranked No. 1 in the state and carrying a 46-2 record into the Area game with San Antonio Harlan and having beaten this team before, it appeared like another easy win with a first set 25-12 recorded. However, the Harlan team, who had stopped the Lady Tigers at regionals last year had other ideas. When the scoring format was changed to best of five and someone gets a point each serve good teams are seldom out of the running in each set. Harlan would come back to take the next three 15-25, 2325, 22-25. Also, one understands that polls are worthless, only the final finish counts. Although extremely disappointing, it is a given the program will produce another top-notch team to compete strongly for all the marbles next year.

In the Bi-district matchup with Vista Ridge, the Lady Tigers took care of business by easily outscoring them in three 25-23, 25-15, 25-13.
