The Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Dripping Springs Community Foundation will host Community Day, a daylong conference, on Nov. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Deep Eddy Vodka Tasting Room, 2250 E. Highway 290.
The event is open to nonprofit leaders, including board members, staff and volunteers, and anyone in Dripping Springs who wants to know more about board service and the local nonprofit sector. 'If you are on a board or are thinking of serving on a board, this local event will provide tools and relationship-building to make your service more impactful,' said Chris Marcum, president of the Dripping Springs Community Foundation. 'Also, if you are an emerging nonprofit or thinking of embarking on a nonprofit journey, this is your chance to meet and network with others already achieving sector success.'
More than 20 speakers from the nonprofit sector will offer insights on issues facing nonprofit management, sharing their experiences, tips and strategies. Topics will include fundraising, board governance, grant applications, nonprofit finance, legal issues, and donor relations, with guidance on finding funding resources and building strong donor relationships. Meet 10 local and regional funders who provide nonprofit funding to organizations and learn how to apply. Mayor Bill Foulds will kick off the day, and the keynote speaker will be Austin Dickson, CEO of the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.
In addition to learning from experts, Community Day is a fantastic opportunity for nonprofit leaders to network with other nonprofit organizations in the community. 'Supporting the nonprofit sector is part of the dual mission of the Dripping Springs Community Foundation,' said Marcum. 'A strong communitybased social sector is ever more important as our community grows so rapidly.'
'We are delighted to partner with the Chamber,' said Marcum. 'Bringing the business sector and the nonprofit sector together leads to greater creativity, bolder innovation, collaboration and a forum for working together to positively impact Dripping Springs. 'The Chamber is excited to work with the Community Foundation so we may combine our resources and expertise. Together we aim to address some of the challenges of local nonprofit organizations, enabling them to serve their missions more effectively,' said Susan Kimball, president of the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce.
Admission is $50 per person. For groups of three or more from the same organization, contact the Chamber of Commerce at [email protected] for discounted pricing.
Coffee, refreshments, and lunch will be provided, and the venue will feature chairs for attendees. A cash-bar mixer will follow the conference.
