The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) is developing the Regional Safety Action Plan (RSAP) to improve roadway safety in Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties. CAMPO is hosting an online open house to gather community feedback on safety concerns and needs. Materials, comment opportunities, and a schedule of in-person outreach events are available at campotexas.org/getinvolved.
The online open house is open through Monday, Nov. 18, 2024.
The RSAP aims to reduce and eventually eliminate fatal and serious-injury crashes while enhancing transportation systems for all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, public transportation riders, and drivers. The plan prioritizes equitable investment in historically underserved communities and will address broader regional safety needs, helping secure additional funding. County-specific plans for Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, and Williamson counties will be integrated into the RSAP to ensure a coordinated approach across the region.
A separate safety plan for Travis County, funded by a specific grant, is expected to be completed by April 2025 and will be incorporated into the RSAP.
CAMPO is also seeking input for the 2050 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP), a multimodal longrange plan that addresses transportation needs over the next 25 years. The plan includes roads, transit, biking, walking, and technology-based travel, considering factors like regional growth and funding projections.
