Dripping Springs High School (DSHS) and its students have earned recognition from the College Board based on Advanced Placement (AP) exams administered in spring 2024.
For the first time since the program's inception in 2023, Dripping Springs High School was named to the AP School Honor Roll. To qualify for the honor roll, schools must meet the following criteria: 1) 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least one AP exam during high school; 2) 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam; and 3) 2% or more of the graduating cohort took five or more AP exams during high school.
DSHS also received the AP Access Award, which honors schools for their commitment to equitable access to advanced coursework. Schools earn this award if the percentage of AP exam takers who are underrepresented minority and/or lowincome students mirrors the school's overall demographics.
Of the 135 current students recognized as AP Scholars, 45 received the highest distinction of AP Scholar with Distinction. Thirty- one students were named AP Scholar with Honor, and 59 students received AP Scholar accolades. Additionally, more than 100 members of the Class of 2024 earned honors.
AP Scholar Awards are presented at several levels based on students’ average scores and the number of exams taken:
• AP Scholar: Awarded to students who score a 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
• AP Scholar with Honor: Awarded to students who earn an average score of at least 3.25 on all exams taken, with scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams.
• AP Scholar with Distinction: Awarded to students who earn an average score of at least 3.5 on all exams, with scores of 3 or higher on five or more exams.
