The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting cyclists from across Texas to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Ride to End ALZ, presented by H-E-B, on Nov. 9, 2024, in Wimberley.
Participants will honor those affected by Alzheimer’s while enjoying a first-class cycling experience. Riders will be supported from start to finish with fully stocked rest stops, curated routes, trained roadside assistance, and catered meals.
'This is an amazing ride for those passionate about spreading awareness for Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia,' said Brenda Suggitt, senior associate director of the Ride to End ALZ. 'People come from across Texas and beyond to share stories and enjoy the beautiful Hill Country views as we ride to end ALZ.'
The event starts and ends at Blue Hole Regional Park in Wimberley. The 10- and 20-mile courses, ideal for beginners, offer scenic views of cypress trees and wildlife along the Blanco River. The more challenging 40-, 60- and 100-mile routes wind through the Hill Country, passing exotic animal farms and wineries near Driftwood.
The Texas ride is one of six Alzheimer’s Association cycling events in the U.S. this year, with a fundraising goal of $800,000. Nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, including more than 459,000 in Texas, where over 1 million family members and friends serve as caregivers.
