Tigers beat Jaguars 49-34

For the second week in a row the Dripping Springs Tigers were forced to put up big numbers to stay ahead of their opponent. More than 900 yards of total offense was generated and once again it was not until late in the fourth quarter the Tigers could breathe easier as the Tigers held off the Hays Johnson Jaguars in an offensive show 49-34. It would push the Tigers season record to 3-1 as they get ready to begin District 26-6A play.

The Tigers kicked off and the Jaguars responded with a quick 6-play drive that incorporated the pass and run. The final 8 on a run. Jackson Mills blocked the EP to keep it at 6-0. Tristan Felder set up the Tigers with a 14 KOR to the 28. From there the Tigers moved the ball in ten plays with big DL Clive Wahl pounding it in from the 4. Aidan Burgess toed the first of his 7 EP's to make it 7-6 and a lead the Tigers would not relinquish.

Dylan Brasher would intercept a deflected pass and the Tigers were in business again. A Maddox Maher to Cooper Reid 7 pass upped the ante 14-6 after one. A Tiger fumble gave the Jaguars the opportunity to score from the 50. They did; on a 7 run. 1314. Felder relieved the nervous situation when he took the KO at the goalline, broke free and was finally overtaken at the four. Jack Tyndall took it in. 21-13. Johnson promptly scored on an 83 drive, scoring on an 11 run. 2021. A 77 pass to Merrik Bloomgren and 13 pass to Reid with eight seconds left bolted the Tigers to a 35-20 halftime lead. The lead was expanded to 42-20 on a J. Tyndall 21 run. It still was not comfortable as Johnson refused to quit playing. They would score on a long drive with 3.14 in the third 27-42. An interception on the Tiger 18 ended in an 8 run on the first play of the fourth. 3442. Jackson Kinley recovered a fumble at the Jaguar 29. An 18 pass to Reid finished the scoring for the night.

The first district game is tonight (Thursday September 26), at Burger Center in Austin, against Akins. Kickoff is 7:30pm. Next Friday will be the Tigers Homecoming game with Austin High.
