From now on it does not make any difference as to what the Lady Tigers have done before – and it has been tremendous.
They have carved out a 32-2 record with the two losses being to two private volleyball powers. Those schools that are able to recruit high quality players much easier than the UIL rules allow.
Dripping Springs lost to the number one team in the nation, Plano Prestonwood, and the Lady Tigers last week’s game with SA Cornerstone Christian. We have scheduled games with Cornerstone Christian over the years because they are excellent competition. Cornerstone, like Dripping Springs, is ranked in the top echelon. This match showed how close in talent they were as the Lady Tigers lost the match 25-17, 21-25, 25-23, 22-25, 9-15.
District 26-6A looms just ahead. Despite their good records the Lady Tigers have not won district in the last four years. Although a bragging point, it means little because what is important is making the playoffs and then game on. Two years ago, it ended in a state championship, which is the end goal. The district has many quality opponents this year to contend. Perennial contenders Lake Travis and Westlake are joined by Austin High and Bowie. It will be an interesting season once again. Last Tuesday DS opened at home with Bowie and followed at home with Westlake. Next Tuesday will find them at Lake Travis.
