City releases draft of 'Reimagine Dripping Springs' comprehensive plan

The city of Dripping Springs has released a draft of its comprehensive plan, titled “Reimagine Dripping Springs.”

The plan is a visionary roadmap designed to guide growth and development in the city over the next 20 years. The draft reflects extensive community input, research, and forward-thinking strategies aimed at ensuring Dripping Springs remains a thriving, sustainable place to live, work, and play.

The plan outlines priorities for future land use and major development projects, guiding real estate decisions, infrastructure investments, economic development, and zoning policies.

Focused on smart growth principles and equitable development, the plan aims to benefit all residents and businesses while preserving the city’s unique character and charm. Key goals and strategies include: Community Character: Manage growth while preserving the Hill Country character and sense of place.

Infrastructure & Facilities: Maintain and upgrade utilities, infrastructure, and public facilities to meet community needs.

Connectivity & Corridor Enhancement: Improve and expand the regional network of streets and highways.

Housing: Ensure strong neighborhoods and provide diverse housing options for current and future residents.

Economic Development & Funding: Foster balanced growth and a resilient local economy.

Over the past two years, the city engaged thousands of residents, stakeholders, and local leaders through public events, workshops, and surveys to shape the comprehensive plan. This collaborative process ensures the plan reflects the needs and priorities of the entire community.

“This plan represents the collective vision of our community. We’re excited to move forward in making Dripping Springs an even better place to live and work for current and future residents,” said City Planning Director Tory Carpenter. “The plan helps us honor our heritage while providing a clear path for future development that supports the city's rapid growth.”

Residents can view the comprehensive plan draft and complete a feedback survey on the city's Reimagine Dripping Springs website at reimaginedrippingsprings. com.

As part of the plan’s launch, the city will host a public meeting on Sept. 25 at Dripping Springs Ranch Park from 5 to 7 p.m. The session will provide an in-depth overview of key initiatives and timelines, and residents will have the opportunity to offer inperson feedback.

“The comprehensive plan is designed to be a living document, evolving as the city grows and adapts to new challenges,” Carpenter said. “It will be regularly reviewed and updated based on emerging trends and feedback from residents.”

A joint workshop with members of the City Council, Planning & Zoning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, and Historic Preservation Commission is also planned to discuss the plan and consider community input.

“The plan is not final, and we’re actively seeking additional public input to make necessary adjustments,” Carpenter added.
