Safety and mobility improvements are coming to multiple roads in Hays County under contracts recently approved by the Texas Transporta tion Commission.

Safety and mobility improvements are coming to multiple roads in Hays County under contracts recently approved by the Texas Transporta tion Commission.

Just south of Dripping Springs, Ranch-to-Market 150 is getting an upgrade, with construction beginning this summer. Six-foot shoulders will be constructed between Oak Spring Drive and Onion Creek, and a center-turn lane will be added at Darden Hill Road to help with leftturning traffic, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The entire road will be resurfaced when the widening is completed.

Texas Materials Group was awarded the $3.6 million contract.

West of downtown Dripping Springs, the County Road 190 bridge over Onion Creek will be replaced. The project was deemed necessary following inspection by TxDOT, and the department worked with Hays County to secure its funding.

Austin Underground Inc. will perform the $1.6 million replacement project, paid for with state and federal funds.

Construction for this project will also take place over the summer, to limit impact on school traffic.
