Morris ‘Buck’ Buckman may be a 101-year-old veteran, but that hasn’t stopped him from staying active.
Buckman lives in Ledgestone Senior Living, an independent living, assisted living and memory care community in the Dripping Springs area. He is a frequent participant in the community’s events and activities and leads chair yoga classes for the other residents. Buck moved into Ledgestone in July 2019.
Buck was born in McPherson, Kansas, right in the middle of the state. He went to Kansas State University, where he was a part of the ROTC program, and served as a soldier in World War II immediately after graduation. After serving his country for three years, he went on to work for General Mills as a flour miller.
He was married to his wife for 61 years until she passed away in January 2006. Buck has two boys and three grandchildren.
Buck jokes that his secret to longevity is to ‘pick your parents’. His mother and father lived to be 94-years-old, and one of his aunts lived to be 102. Buck continues to be sharp, mobile, and ‘simply amazing’, according to the community staff.
Ledgestone Senior Living is located at 13150 Four Star Blvd. More about Ledgestone can be found at bit.ly/3tcMAGn.
