Dripping Springs Empty Bowls Project set for Nov 3

In a community where neighbors look out for one another, the Empty Bowls Project has become a lifeline. On Nov. 3, as the aroma of chef-prepared soups fills the air and local music stirs the soul, a simple handcrafted bowl will symbolize something far more profound—hope for the hungry in Dripping Springs.

The 27th Annual Empty Bowls Project will be held on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dripping Springs Ranch Park and Event Center. The event raises funds to fight hunger in the local community.

This family-friendly event benefits Dripping Springs Helping Hands, a nonprofit organization that helps feed the hungry and provides temporary financial aid to those in need.

For a $25 donation at the door, attendees can choose a handcrafted ceramic bowl and fill it with soups prepared and donated by local restaurants. Live music from local musicians and beverages from local breweries and wineries will also be available. Raffle enthusiasts can buy chances on a number of uniquely crafted gift baskets.

After enjoying a meal that includes bread, drinks, and dessert, and listening to live entertainment, guests can take their one-of-a-kind artisan bowl home as a reminder of those facing hunger in the community.

Proceeds from the Empty Bowls Project support Dripping Springs Helping Hands, a non-profit organization and food pantry, which has served the community for 38 years. This event alone raises 75% of the organization’s annual operating budget. 'Without the proceeds from the Empty Bowls Project, we would struggle to meet the needs of our less fortunate families in the area,' said June Baumoel, who co-chairs the event.

In 2023, Helping Hands provided over 282,130 pounds of food to families facing food insecurity, serving 18,083 individuals, a 35% increase from 2022. As the population grows, so does the number of people needing assistance.

The event features a unique collection of handmade bowls donated by potters from across the Hill Country, many of whom will be present to sell their ceramics.

Last year, the Empty Bowls Project drew more than 1,000 attendees and attracted 100 sponsors.

Sponsorships are available in 8 levels, ranging from $100 to $3,000 in support. The Dripping Springs Ranch Park Event Center is located at 1042 Event Center Drive, across from Dripping Springs Elementary School on RR 12. The venue offers a covered, air-conditioned space with ample parking for one of Dripping Springs’ largest community fundraisers.
