A fatal accident occurred last week on Farm-to-Market 1826, approximately two miles southeast of Dripping Springs in Hays County.
The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday, March 8 at approximately 2:27 p.m. A 2016 GMC Acadia was traveling northeast on FM 1826, when it rounded a curve and crossed the double yellow line. The GMC then struck a Western Star truck traveling southeast, according to a statement from the DPS.
As a result of the crash, the driver of the GMC was pronounced deceased at the scene by Judge John Burns JP, Precinct 4. The driver was identified as Nicole Debolt, age 45, from Austin.
“The Texas Department of Public Safety would like to remind all drivers to minimize distractions, don’t drive fatigued, don’t drink and drive, obey traffic control devices and always wear your safety belt,” said DPS Sergeant Deon Cockrell.
A copy of the crash report can be obtained once the investigation is completed. As of Monday, March 14, the investigation is still ongoing.
