C. C. Carlton Industries donates $100,000, new kennel building to Service Dogs, Inc.

C. C. Carlton Industries donates $100,000, new kennel building to Service Dogs, Inc.

Craig Carlton is used to thinking big. His company C.C. Carlton Industries has worked for over 30 years on Texas’ biggest construction projects including the Tesla factory in Austin, the Space X facility in Bastrop and housing developments throughout Central Texas. Carlton’s passion for giving back is as big as his professional accomplishments.

Friday, March 29, Craig Carlton presented local nonprofit Service Dogs, Inc. with a check for $100,000. He also plans to break ground on a new kennel building in June.

“When I visited here in January, I fell in love with the place,” says Carlton. “Dogs have helped me through some rough times. I want to be part of more dogs helping more people.”

Service Dogs, Inc. is a 36-year-old training facility founded by former attorney Sheri Soltes. They adopt dogs from animal shelters throughout Texas and train them to help wounded veterans and other Texans living with disabilities. Service Dogs, Inc. provides their dogs completely free of charge.

“Mr. Carlton’s gift is sponsoring the complete training of two amazing Service Dogs that we will match with clients on our waiting list,” explains Soltes. “Disco and Riff, the dogs he is sponsoring are part of the largest class of dogs we’ve ever had. We just promoted them to their second level of training.”

Service Dogs, Inc. adopted Disco from PAWS Shelter of Central Texas, located in Dripping Springs. They adopted Riff from the Williamson County Animal Shelter. Both are mix breed dogs.

“We quarantine our newly adopted shelter dogs for at least two weeks until we are sure they are healthy and can live with the other dogs,” says Soltes. “We were about to run out of room in the kennels, so Mr. Carlton’s gift comes at the perfect time. Thanks to him, we will be able to take even more dogs from homeless to hero.
