Sports seasons have short life spans once the actual playing begins, and softball is no different.
Coaches have to cram in their tourney and practice games among district games to get the number they want to play. Some of that will be eased next year when Dripping Springs High School goes back to a seventeam district. The DSHS Lady Tigers, one of the favorites in the district, are in the middle of that. They opened play with a 3-1 loss to New Braunfels High School and then played in a three-day tourney in New Braunfels, forging a 4-2 record.
They began with a 4-2 loss to Hays High School and 9-1 win over Davenport High School. The next day saw a 14-2 win over Round Rock High School and a 5-4 loss to Magnolia High School. Saturday was another strong day with a 11-0 win over Alamo Heights High School and 14-2 over Eagle Pass High School. Opened district with Austin High School and right back into hosting the Brittany Tuck tourney.
