Lacrosse team drops one to The Woodlands

The Dripping Springs Lacrosse team faced a tough challenge on Sunday as The Woodlands lacrosse team came to town. Drip got things started early, jumping out to a 2-0 lead behind goals from Jack Tanner and Brendan Linan. The Highlanders would tie things up and the teams would match goals for the balance of the 1st quarter. Aiden Kane added two goals and the game was knotted up at 4 at the end of the quarter.

The Dripping Springs Lacrosse team faced a tough challenge on Sunday as The Woodlands lacrosse team came to town. Drip got things started early, jumping out to a 2-0 lead behind goals from Jack Tanner and Brendan Linan. The Highlanders would tie things up and the teams would match goals for the balance of the 1st quarter. Aiden Kane added two goals and the game was knotted up at 4 at the end of the quarter.

The game took a turn in the 2nd quarter with The Woodlands adding four more goals and shutting out the Tigers, taking a 4 goal lead into the half, 8-4. They kept the pressure up in the 3rd quarter with four more goals. Drip picked up goals from Tanner and Walker Wright in the third, followed by Linan and Tanner in the final period. The Woodlands kept their foot on the gas and picked up the 17-8 win.

Linan earned the hammer in the game. The Palm Beach Atlantic University commit had 2 goals and an assist. Tanner had 3 goals on the afternoon. Sophomore Kyle Parker was active all over the field with a couple of assists, a few groundballs and two forced turnovers. Ryan Williamson and Wright each dished out an assist as well. Owen Rhodes led the way on faceoffs for the Tigers with another strong outing.

Defensively Dripping Springs was dealt a tough hand trying to contain Kimo Kouletsis who had 5 goals and an assist. The Woodlands had two other players with 3 goals and 2 assists each. Keller Stafford and Cody Smith each scooped up 3 ground balls and Gideon Schlab, Nate Tyo and Jonah Friedman each forced turnovers.

The Tigers move to 4-3 on the season and begin district play at Lake Travis on Thursday night. JV at 6:30pm and Varsity at 8:15pm.
