Lone Star Market, located at 13542 U.S. Highway 290 near Sawyer Ranch Road, officially opened its fourth location with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Oct. 27, and grand opening events for customers throughout the weekend.
The Houston-based company, which has operated the location as a Shell gas station and convenience store for many years, had a Burger King franchise in the location up until March of this year. When they had the opportunity to expand their Lone Star Market and Lone Star Cafe to the location, company representatives said the decision was easy.
'The Dripping Springs community wanted better, fresher made-to-order offerings than what we had before,' said company CEO Hasan Zakaria. 'We knew that our Lone Star Market concept of fresh, proprietary recipes and healthy, quick options for meals would be perfect for the area.'
Lone Star Market, which is owned and operated by Sugarland Petroleum, Inc. is a family-owned business that has been in operation since the late 1970's. Company founder Abdul Zakaria, along with many of his family who also run the business, were on hand with the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce for the ribbon cutting event.
As a part of the ceremony, Lone Star Market recognized and made a donation to two organizations that make a tremendous impact on the Dripping Springs community: the Burke Center for Youth, and the Dripping Springs ISD Council of PTAs. Each received a $500 donation on behalf of the company.
'We pride ourselves on getting involved with and giving back to the communities we serve,' said Zakaria. 'It's part of what we believe in as a company and what we believe in as a family.'
