Hill Country poetry competition comes to town

In cooperation with Dripping Springs Library, the Dripping Spring Poetry Group and New Braunfels Creative Writers have created a contest for area poets to share their poetry.

In cooperation with Dripping Springs Library, the Dripping Spring Poetry Group and New Braunfels Creative Writers have created a contest for area poets to share their poetry.

Ages 18 years and older are invited to share their poetry, with a maximum number of three submissions per person. Winners of each category will each receive $100. Poetry submitted is expected to fall into one of three subject categories: living the good life of the Hill Country, the beauty and nature of the Hill Country or the wonder and wisdom of words.

Participants are required to provide two copies of each entry: one with their name and email address and one without to be read by judges.

For each poem entered, the poet will be required to pay an entry fee: $10.00 for one, $20.00 for two or $25.00 for three. Checks should be made payable to “Friends of the Dripping Springs Community Library.”

Mail entries and fees to: Friends of the Dripping Springs Community Library, c/o Dripping Springs Community Library, 501 Sportsplex Dr., Dripping Springs, TX 78620. Entries must be received by April 1. Winners will be notified by August 1 or upon completion of judging.

RULES:

• No poet may be named a winner in more than one category.

• Poems may not be more than seven verses or thirty lines.

• Poems and poet names may be published by the Dripping Springs Community Library.

• Poems with misspelled words or bad punctuation may be cause for elimination.

• Poems may not have been previously published.

• Poetry may be copyrighted, but a written note approving publication rights must be included.
