DSHS students set record for CTE certifications

More than 125 Dripping Springs High School students obtained a 142 industrybased certifications through the school’s Career & Technical Education programs during the 2022-2023 school year.

More than 125 Dripping Springs High School students obtained a 142 industrybased certifications through the school’s Career & Technical Education programs during the 2022-2023 school year.

This high number of certifications sets a record for the school, which offers certifications in a variety of career pathways. Areas of study include animal science, audio visual, biotechnology, engineering, floral design, health science, real estate and welding.

Whether students are going on to college or straight into the workforce, these certification courses are intended to provide valuable technical, communication, collaboration and leadership skills to help students build career portfolios and earn higher wages. These certifications introduce students to knowledge and skills that are foundational to future jobs and help set them apart from their peers.

The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program produced the highest number of certifications with 46 students passing the nationally recognized industry exam, up from 25 a year ago.

DSHS introduced new certifications in 2023 with AWS D9.1 Sheet Metal Welding, Adobe Digital Video (Premiere Pro) and Adobe Visual Design (Photoshop).
