The Dripping Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2933 recently received a grant from the American Rescue Plan program.
VFW Quartermaster Gary Hale received the first half of the grant funds from Hays County Precinct 4 Commissioner Walt Smith in a private ceremony earlier this spring.
Smith was responsible for assisting the local VFW post in getting this grant, which was provided to the local post to help compensate for all the funding that was lost in the past three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
VFW Post 2933 Officers and members thanked Commissioner Smith for his assistance in getting these grant funds.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces. Each local chapter is established with the mission “to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts… to serve our veterans, the military and our communities… to advocate on behalf of all veterans,” according to Post 2933’s website.
Post 2933 meets every third Thursday at 7 p.m. at Patriot’s Hall off of US Highway 290.
