City to host Memorial Day weekend cleanup

This month, the city of Dripping Springs has welcomed a nationwide cleanup program to one of its most popular parks.

This month, the city of Dripping Springs has welcomed a nationwide cleanup program to one of its most popular parks.

The Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup is the nation’s largest community improvement program that takes place annually in an estimated 20,000 communities nationwide. As a Keep America Beautiful program member, Dripping Springs Parks and Community Services will host multiple clean-up opportunities this spring to participate in this national program. The last of these will take place the day after Memorial Day on Tuesday, May 30, at Veterans Memorial Park from 8 to 11 a.m.

Previous cleanups included one along Mercer Street and Old Fitzhugh Road on May 6 and one at Sports and Recreation Park on May 20.

This cleanup, taking place around Memorial Day weekend, is intended “to help honor our Veterans and Keep Texas Beautiful,” according to a Facebook post from the city.

“Can't wait to see you there!” the city added in its post.

The mission of the Dripping Springs Parks and Community Services Department is “to foster community by preserving parks and open space; by connecting people to our natural resources and cultural history; and by offering engaging programs and events.'
