Five Dripping Springs High School art students earned all-state recognition at the Texas Visual Arts Scholastic Event competition late last month.

The VASE competition took place on April 29 in San Marcos. In addition to allstate honors, Brooklyn Rice was awarded a Gold Seal, the highest state recognition, for her piece. Also earning all-state recognition for Dripping Springs were Katherine Ferno, Isabella Fletcher, Jackie Garcia and Jacob Pitts.

Fletcher was an allstate honoree last year, and Ferno was a medalist in 2021.

Each year, student pieces from DSHS are entered in the VASE competition where they present their work and defend their pieces in front of a judges' panel. The five students qualified for the state event after receiving all-area distinction at the Region 13 South competition in February.
